Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27, marks the summer opening of Spring Lake Regional Park's swimming lagoon, floating Water Park and kayak and paddleboard rentals. Part playground and part obstacle course, the inflatable, floating Water Park is for kids (at least 6 years old and 42 inches tall) and adults who like to make a splash – and a hop, flip and a jump! Tickets are $10 for a two-hour session, and reservations are encouraged.

Wildflower season has already begun in Sonoma County, with early blooms abounding at Foothill, Crane Creek, Helen Putnam, Shiloh and other regional parks known for their brilliant spring wildflower displays.

There is no dog poop fairy, so don’t leave pet poop behind to be someone else’s mess. Pet waste contains harmful bacteria that can contaminate the natural environment if it isn't disposed of properly. Learn how to practice this important Leave No Trace principle when hiking with your dog.
